It’s been five years since CeeLo Green released an album (2015’s Heart Blanche), but the gifted singer is back in action as he sheds his stage name on the release of his fifth solo album, CeeLo Green is Thomas Callaway.
“Thomas Callaway is a Man. A milestone achievement, yet nothing short of a Miracle. Mixed emotions and many faces, one heart, and one love. Made a son of the south, and adopted by the world. Making music that celebrates a universal truth, and that brings us all together as a family.”
Produced by Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys, the album–which CeeLo says is “like if Al Green did a country album”–was recorded in Nashville after the duo began jamming together at Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound studio. “It will remind you of the old days of Motown when everyone was doing one take all the way,” Mr. Callaway explains.
Equipped with a dozen songs, including “Lead Me” and “Doing It All Together,” CeeLo Green is Thomas Callaway can be heard below.
