In 2019 Disney released a “photorealistic computer-animated” version of their animated 1994 film, The Lion King. On July 31, a little over a year since that release, Beyoncé‘s Parkwood Entertainment and Disney+ will release an accompanying film, Black Is King.
The film will be a “visual album” inspired by The Lion King: The Gift album. A trailer has been released, which reveals that the likes of Naomi Campbell, Beyoncé’s mother Tina Knowles-Lawson Lupita Nyong’o, Kelly Rowland, Pharrell and Jay-Z, among others, will appear throughout Black Is King.
