Sa-Roc – “Deliverance” (Video)

blame it on Shake August 19, 2020

It’s been a long time coming, but Sa-Roc will finally release her Rhymesayers debut, The Sharecropper’s Daughter, on October 2nd.

The Sharecropper’s Daughter speaks to my father’s actual beginnings on a Virginia tobacco farm where his family sharecropped,” Sa-Roc says. “The title is meant to signify that both my father’s and my upbringing, though so different, are linked by a shared history that informs the way I move through the world… It’s a sonic reflection of the things we inherit. About the emotional weight that we unknowingly bestow upon the next generation; the genetic transfer of both trauma and triumph that we, both donors and beneficiaries, are tasked with reshaping into a future of our own.”

Already three songs deep with “Hand of God,” Goddess Gang” and “Forever,” the D.C. emcee keeps things rolling with the fourth single, “Deliverance.”

Produced by Evidence (with help from Al B Smoov), the song was released with a matching video (also directed by Evidence, with the ultra talented Stephen Vanasco acting as Director of Photography) that can be seen below. Check it out and pre-order/save the album now.
