For the entire summer and the better part of the spring, Gorillaz have been sharing songs as a part of their Song Machine series. The releases include “Pac-Man,” “Friday 13th,” and much more. Keeping the series alive before their new album, the group calls on 6LACK and Elton John for their new single.
Joining forces for “The Pink Phantom,” the song presents a clash of legends and new-class artists with Gorillaz sitting right in the middle. Pairing the song with an animated visual, the video kicks off with John of Gorillaz playing the song behind a piano. Next 6LACK appears in the form a hologram to set the scene for Elton John’s arrival.
The single arrives before Gorillaz share their Song Machine Season 1: Strange Timez album later this month on October 23. Across its 17 songs, fans can expect to hear ScHoolboy Q, EarthGang, GoldLink, JPEGMAFIA, and more on the album.
