Kid Cudi Releases ‘Man On The Moon 3: The Chosen’ Album

Roughly a decade after its last installment, The Legend Of Mr. Rager, and Kid Cudi has finally completed the trilogy.

Cudi has released his first solo album in roughly four years, Man On The Moon 3: The Chosen. The formal follow-up to 2016’s Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin, Cudi’s seventh album comes a month after the season finale of his latest show on HBO, We Are Who We Are.

“It was conversations I would have with my friends. And then me being in the right place creatively,” Cudi said to Apple Music’s Zane Lowe about the creation of MOTM3. “I was already in a really good place working on Intergalactic, going crazy on “The Scotts,” had that in the chamber. But then I was making something else that didn’t fit those two projects. And I think after two or three songs, I was like, ‘Whoa, this really feels like a Man On the Moon.’ Like, this is what the universe is telling me to make here.

“So I think after two or three songs, I was like, ‘This is it,'” he continued. “I made ‘Tequila Shots,’ ‘Another Day,’ and ‘She Knows This.’ That’s why you hear ‘Tequila Shots’ and it sounds like such an introduction. It sounds like you pick right back up where we left off ten years ago.”

The 18-song project — split into four “acts” — features the likes of Pop Smoke, Skepta, Phoebe Bridges and Trippie Redd. However, his two recent releases — with Travis Scott (“The Scotts“) and Eminem (“The Adventures of Moon Man & Shady“) — will not be on the project.

Or, until/unless he releases a deluxe version of the album.

Meanwhile, production will be handled primarily by the original Man On The Moon team: Dot Da Genius, Take A Day Trip, Plain Pat, Emile and Mike Dean.
