Following the tension-filled session between Gucci Mane and Jeezy, the Bay Area special was much more relaxed and fun-filled.
After the planned bout between Keyshia Cole and Ashanti was postponed due to the latter contracting COVID-19, E-40 and Too $hort were tapped as their replacements. Throughout their over three-hour session, 40 Water and Short Dawg represented Northern California with classics, collaborations, club bangers, and… liquor.
No, seriously: the two were smacked off of 40’s Mangoscato, and now I need parts of that.
The two — who have roughly 60 years in the music business, 47 albums, over 50 collaborations (including a new double album!), and over a thousand songs out between each other — played everything from vintage grooves (“Gettin’ It,” “Sprinkle Me”), party staples (“Yay Area,” “Blow The Whistle”), guest appearances (“IDFWU,” “The World Is Filled…”) and much more. As someone who was born and raised in California (LBC-bred, but have familial roots in the Bay), this writer was here for every second.
Naturally, the DopeHouse has a playlist for the masses to relive the event, which can be checked out below.
