If there’s one thing to know about Big Sean, it’s that he’ll rep Detroit till the end of it. The rapper is just a few months removed from his Detroit 2 project and now his latest endeavor finds him taking a position in the creative department of his hometown’s NBA team.
The Detroit Pistons announced today that Big Sean will serve as the team’s Creative Director of Innovation. According to a press statement, Sean will provide “creative counsel and strategic guidance on a variety of Pistons off-the-court initiatives” which includes “merchandise design, in-game experience, co-branded community, and social responsibility activation.”
Sean also shared his excitement about the new position. “It’s a dream come true and a real honor to get to work with the iconic Detroit Pistons,” he said. “I grew up in the city, which naturally made me a fan of the Bad Boys. I would later have a Grant Hill poster on my wall and then, against all odds, would watch the ’04 Pistons go on to win the Championship.”
He added, “I look forward to creatively finding new ways to contribute to their legacy and continue their dedication to the community through sports, art, and, of course, music.”
To begin the new partnership, Big Sean added his Don Life logo to the Pistons practice jerseys. An image of the new jerseys can be seen below. To read more on Sean’s new endeavor, check out his interview with The Undefeated here.
