After two months of slumber from the music industry, it looks like things are finally starting to kick into gear with tonight being the busiest release day of the year so far. And we’re starting things off with a bang.
Midnight (2/12) marks the official release of Judas and the Black Messiah, a film about the FBI’s betrayal of Fred Hampton and the Black Panther Party, in select theaters and all homes via HBO Max. As a bonus, RCA has also released an accompanying soundtrack that boasts on helluva guest list.
On top of solo offerings from Black Thought, Nas, SiR, A$AP Rocky, and others, the track that sticks out the most is a collaboration between Jay-Zand the late great Nipsey Hussle–which will mark the first time the two have appeared on record together, despite their personal relationship while Nip was still here. From there, we’re also getting J.I.D and Rapsodyon a track with Masego, another Smino and Saba collab, BJ the Chicago Kid, H.E.R, Pooh Shiesty, G Herbo, Lil Durk, Dom Kennedy, and more.
Executive produced by Hit-Boy, Dash Sherrod, Ryan Coolger, and Archie Davis, the Judas and the Black Messiah soundtrack can be heard below.
