From Brooklyn to the Oscars.
Joey Bada$$ can now add “Academy Award nominee” to his ever-growing list of accomplishments. Bada$$, née Jo-Vaughn Virginie Scott, stars in the short film Two Distant Strangers. Directed by Travon Free and Martin Desmond Roe, and written by Free, the short follows “cartoonist Carter James’ [Bada$$] repeated attempts to get home to his dog which are thwarted by a recurring deadly encounter that forces him to re-live the same awful day over and over again.”
The film was announced as a nominee for the Academy Award for Best Short Film (Live Action). Joey celebrated the news in a succinct tweet:
I’m officially Oscar-nominated. That’s crazy. #TwoDistantStrangers— BADMON (@joeyBADASS) March 15, 2021
