Hiatus Kaiyote – “Red Room”

blame it on Meka April 27, 2021

June 25 can’t arrive soon enough.

That’s because on that day Hiatus Kaiyote will return with their new album Mood Valiant. Their first album since 2015’s Choose Your Weapon, the album now arrives via Flying Lotus‘ Brainfeeder Records.

Following the group’s first single, “Get Sun,” they’ve dropped a visual for the second offering “Red Room.” “My vocal booth had a red light in it, and I was thinking about my old house that had all this red-colored glass in it,” Naomi “Nai Palm” Saalfield said about the song. “When the sun set in my room at a certain hour my whole room was red.”

Band member Perrin Moss adds, “Essentially it was just having fun, man. We were warm, we were in another country. Of course, not knowing there was a big pandemic coming, the context of the ‘red room’ now and what that means to everyone sitting in isolation is kind of relevant.”
