A few months ago this writer came across a viral tweet “Keemy Casanova,” the video by (and alter-ego of) Jackson, Mississippi-reared musician Akeem Ali. Equal parts hilarious (Keemy is a combination of Dolemite, Suga Free and Camp Lo) and extremely dope, the song has been in this writer’s regular rotation since.
Akeem has fully immersed himself into that alter-ego, “re-introducing” himself or sorts, with his new project Akeem Ali Presents: Mack in the Day – Starring Keemy Casanova. A six-track drop, the project is also anchored by the previous releases “Shugga” and “The Mack.” The EP is also accompanied by a short film featuring all of the tracks as well.
