Janet Jackson Reveals “JANET” Documentary Trailer

blame it on Meka September 21, 2021

In 2018, Wongo and I had the pleasure of seeing Janet Jackson at the (now-shuttered) Panorama Festival. And I quote:

A few weeks ago Janet Jackson headlined New York’s Panorama Festival, and snatched my edges clean off.

To this day I still mention the performance as one of the best live shows I’ve ever seen (although — full disclosure — it was my first time seeing a Jackson perform live, and I am an unabashed stan of the family). So, naturally, I’m excited for the legend’s forthcoming documentary, JANET. Set to premiere in January 22, 2022, the documentary — directed by Ben Hirsch — is reported to have been five years in the making, and will air over two nights on both Lifetime and A&E.

The documentary, slated to coincide with the 40th(!) anniversary of Janet’s self-titled debut album, will touch upon everything: her professional and personal career, the death of the family patriarch Joseph in 2018, the infamous fallout from her 2004 Super Bowl performance with Justin Timberlake, the death of her brother Michael, entering motherhood, and more.

Yeah… jam all of this entirely into my bloodstream.

A brief teaser recently for the documentary can be seen below.
