Coast Contra Are Breaking Down the Doors with ‘Apt. 505’ Debut

blame it on Shake March 25, 2022

Meet Coast Contra: a four-headed monster (consisting of members RioLoz, Eric Jamal, Taj Austin and Ras Austin) that’s been making noise out of the Los Angeles area for a minute now. To be honest, you’ve probably seen one of their freestyle sessions or noticed Timbaland and other big acts praising their work on social media lately. And for good measure, these guys are dope!

Putting in work for the past six years while living together, the brotherhood they’ve formed is unmatched and you can tell from the chemistry they show in front of the screen (above) and on wax.

“From living together and working together, we know whose strong point is what and whose weak point is what. We have a strong foundation of communication,” Eric Jamal shared in an interview with KXSC Radio late last year. “We all worked at a restaurant, so we take the same kind of things that we learned at a restaurant and take it over to the studio. There’s no ego, and we know whose role needs to be what. We all allow each other to share our thoughts and ideas. Now, one idea might be wild, corny and bizarre, but we encourage ourselves to share those ideas, because we never know what they might turn into.”

Now, with the spotlight on them, it’s time for Coast Contra to take their talents to the next level with the release of their debut album, Apt. 505.

Named after their home base in LA, the rapping quartet come through with a 17-track effort, with features from BJ the Chicago Kid, Travis Walker, Sakari, and Kateel. On the production, they’ve got our guy Jansport J, Mike & Keys, DeVan Hooker, Nino Beige, and a few others.
