blame it on Meka April 14, 2022

Multi-talented multi-hyphenate (singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist) Fousheé formally introduced herself in 2021 with her debut project time machine, which had the hit single “deep end,” which landed in the Top 10 at Alternative Radio, making her the first Black female artist to hit the top 10 in over thirty years. He first single of 2022, she shares “double standard.”

“‘double standard’” is addressing outdated gender roles that I have experienced in past relationships and rebelling against them,” she says of the track. “The imbalance frustrates me. Don’t expect anything from me that you wouldn’t give me, including respect and loyalty. I match energy.

“I wanted to feature Steve Lacy in the visualizer/artwork to mostly to stir up thought,” she continues. “It’s kind of a bold move to make out with someone on artwork for the world to analyze, but that’s what the song represents. Breaking the rules.”

Produced by Benjamin Saint Fort aka BNYX, the track can be heard below.
