Here is something that caught my eye this morning.
New Jersey-bred musician Juwan Elcock, aka BLK ODYSSY, moved to Austin, TX following a family tragedy where he would initially indulge in the Americana music scene before shifting gears and sounds to music that he felt truly reflected his identity, inspired by the instrumentation of To Pimp A Butterfly and George Clinton’s Parliament-Funkadelic. After releasing his BLK VINTAGE project in 2021, ODYSSY returns with “Complex of Killing A Man.”
Also featuring Baby Rose, it’s the video that captured my attention. Co-directed by Joey Hunt and BLK ODYSSY, the video plays in reverse as it unwinds the story of a tragic murder from end to beginning. Mind you, this is part two; part one, “Benny’s Got A Gun” featuring Benny The Butcher and George Clinton, will arrive in the coming days.
