Over two decades in, and we still can’t get enough of the world’s most successful virtual band.

Sometime in 2023 the Gorillaz will release their eighth studio album, Cracker Island. Having already shared the title track with Thundercat earlier in 2022, the quartet of Murdoc, Noodle, Russel, and 2D have enlisted the likes of Stevie Nicks, Beck, Bad Bunny, and Adeleye Omotayo to join their cult.

Yes, I’m very serious. According to a press release the band…

…have relocated to Silverlake, California as they recruit new members to join “The Last Cult,” in search of the one truth to fix the world. Reports from the Golden State indicate that Murdoc is in love with the lady next door. Russel is glued to the TV. Noodle is compiling a handbook of wisdom and knowledge. And 2D is busy being 2D.

The have also rounded up Tame Impala and Pharcyde member Bootie Brown (who reunites with the group for the first time since their “Dirty Harry” days) for their latest focus track, “New Gold.”
