DVSN, Jagged Edge, & Jermaine Dupri Connect For “What’s Up” Single

DVSN loves the 90s (and 2000s), so to speak.

Dating back to their OVO debut, Sept. 5, the sound from duo of singer Daniel Daley and producer Nineteen85 has been rooted in nostalgia. After utilizing a vocal sample of Jay-Z’s “Song Cry” for their first single of the year, “If I Get Caught,” the pair link with Jermaine Dupri and Jagged Edge (I know, right?) for its follow-up, “What’s Up.”

“When we were playing it for the twins from Jagged Edge,” Daniel explains, “they were so passionate about this song being super special and important for R&B, that they decided to bless us with their vocals and trademark harmonies to complete the emotion.”

“What’s Up” also arrives with a Andy Madeleine-directed video, which is a continuation of its predecessor and — true to 90s and 2000s form — ultimately has Daniel singing in the rain a la Tom DuBois from The Boondocks.
