At the top of the year, A$AP Rocky returned with his solo single “Same Problems.” As he continues to ready his-long-in-the-works follow-up to 2018’s Testing, he reunites with Pharrell for his second focus track of the year, “RIOT (Rowdy Pipe’n).”
Making its first appearance in Rocky’s commercial directorial debut for Beats Studio Pro, the Pharrell-laced track has several references to his baby mama wife (??) Rihanna. “My wife is erotic, I’m smokin’ exotic,” Rocky raps. “Pass on the [Saweetie], I got me a RiRi.”
Rihanna even makes an off-screen appearance in the commercial as she interrupts Rocky during a studio session to tell him to hit the store to pick up some diapers for their child. Which leads to that one mini-viral moment of Rocky running through a town at full speed with Timberlands on. I mean, anybody who can sprint that fast in those extra-heavy shoes, I’m sure can beat A-Train from The Boys (and his weak-ass heart) in a race.
