On June 17th, Miami’s premier live music series, “The Rising”, returns for another night of great performances. Over the past year, The Rising has grown to be an essential part of building the live Hip Hop scene in South Florida and is now poised to continue that path at our new home/ venue, PAX Miami.
For the June showcase, we have teamed up with Atlanta hip hop Icon, Killer Mike, and will be celebrating the release of his latest album PL3DGE (Grand Hustle/Grind Time Rap Gang). Known for his commanding voice, and powerful live show, Killer Mike will be making his first Miami appearance since the release of his critically acclaimed album. Mike began his career as a frequent collaborator of hip hop legends, Outkast & Organized Noize, and member of Atlanta’s most influential collective, The Dungeon Family. With the acclaim he received through guest appearances on Stankonia & Speakerboxx/The Love Below, Mike has established a successful solo career that spans from radio hits (“Akshon”, “A.D.I.D.A.S.”) to Underground Rap classics (Pledge Allegiance II The Grind, Vol 1-3).
Joining Mike are some of South Florida’s most burgeoning talent; Fusik, Dynas & Eric Biddines. The band Fusik has made a name for itself for their high energy live show and fusion of many different musical genres. Their style is as unique as it is diverse, blending elements of funk, jazz, soul, hip hop and more. Dynas is considered a staple of Miami’s hip hop scene and is known for his work with DJ Spinna, J Dilla, DJ Jazzy Jeff and illmind. Rounding out the local support is West Palm Beach’s Eric Biddines. Eric has a great style all his own and is the first performer from Palm Beach County to be featured at The Rising.
The Rising: PL3DGE Edition will be hosted by RealDJRadio’s “Jon The Barber” with sound provided by Poe Boy’s own DJ Smokey Bear.
