The historical accomplishments in Hip-Hop keep pouring in. The Rock Steady Crew turns 36 this year, Enter the Wu-Tang turns 20 years old in November, Wild Style turned 31 this year, and Hip-Hop’s first ever Hip Hop TV Show, Graffiti Rock is turning 30. Created by artist, b-boy, journalist and filmmaker Michael Holman, Graffiti Rock “helped feature some of hip hop’s most revered artists including RUN DMC, Kool Moe Dee, The New York City Breakers, and a studio dance crowd that included the likes of Vincent Gallo (Buffalo 66) and Debi Mazar (Goodfellas, L.A. Law, Entourage).” Holman (who “was the first writer to use the term Hip Hop in print”) has created a Kickstarter campaign to gather funds in order to produce two films, Graffiti Rock, The 30th Anniversary Edition and Graffiti Rock: The Untold Story. If you’re a Rap nerd like I am and want to see the culture continue to thrive and live on, you can find out more on how to donate by following this link.
