Killer Mike on Nas Renigging his Album Title (Video)

blame it on Shake July 16, 2008

[vimeo 1352804]

My man Jonathan Hay hit me with this nice little exclusive and asked if I cared to premier it. The answer is obvious, I respect Killer Mike to the fullest so this was a no brainer. Instead of breaking down what was said, check the video above and li-li-listen. And while we’re talking about Killer Mike. Cop his album! I Pledge Allegiance to the Grind II in stores now! Also, if you haven’t already, check the Pressure video he did with Ice Cube.

  • ay who cares which of the albums is better?…it aint even bout that..and although i loved nas’ music and like this album…i agree with killer mike about keepin the name and protestin…he definitely speakin the truth

lol for some reason Im not going to buy this album anymore………..it just seems weak to me now.

I gues he deacided that he wanted to sell the album to people who weren’t “niggers” so he changed the title after gaining the hype.

nas was classic back in the day – “the world is yours”, his whole first album, etc. was timeless……………i don’t know he just seems a lot weaker now. i still can’t believe he fucking changd the title like a little bitch under corp. pressure….oh well, BACK TO THE UNDERGROUND!

  • killer mike is a beast – – through and through.

to be completely honest, i don’t even dig all of his music. its just his passion and analytical skills that’s undeniable for me.

FYI, def jam is owned by overseas investers and they were NOT going to put the album out with that title PERIOD.

i guess you guys want nas to do illmatic 64 or something. you expect for someone 34 to make the same music he created at 19?!? people evole. well grown folks do. funny, i heard the same thing about mary j blige earlier today. geeeesh

killa mike is a good rapper. i respect him. i dunno about him coming at nas. well, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. actually, i though the same of nas until i did my research. at the end of the day, its all about money. especially for record labels.

“Although some corporate retailers refused to carry Nas’ album with its original title of Nigger, Samsung and AT&T have courted the Queensbridge emcee for an additional tour. “

  • balaramesh

“Originally named “Nigger,” the album received some negative attention from activists and music outlets for its controversial title. Mass merchants like Wal-Mart and Best Buy even threatened to not stock the album in its stores. Although Nas did eventually change the title, the hype surrounding the release has not simmered.”

hopefully, yall get the point now. def jam is not putting the album out if it cannot get stocked in the shelves.

” “I’m hog-tied, the corporate side/Try telling Bob Dylan, Bruce or Billy Joel they can’t sing what’s in their soul/So “Untitled” it is.”

    last one. geesh

i guess that makes me a nas stan?

NAS SAYS IN AN INTERVIEW THAT L.A. REID GOT A CALL FROM THE WHITE HOUSE TO SCRAP THE ALBUM TITLE. WHAT A PERFECT OPPORTUNITY TO STAND UP TO THE FULLEST. BUT WE ALL KNOW NAS AIN’T REALLY GOT THAT TYPE OF BUCK IN HIS HEART. ITS INSIDE HIS PEN 24/7 BUT IT AIN’T IN HIS HEART. ….THAT LOUIS FARAKKHAN SONG IS ONE OF HIS ALL-TIME BEST THOUGH.

OH YEAH, SOUNDSCAN IS TRACKING SYSTEM. NAME 1 OTHER TRACKING SYSTEM THAT A BLACK MAN HAS FAITH IN? I’VE BEEN HAD A FEELING THAT THOSE RAP NUMBERS COMING OUT OF SOUNDSCAN ARE BEING REDUCED OR ELEVATED TO REFLECT THE ARTISTS OF THEIR LIKING.
