We’ve been supporting Jon Waltz for two years now. After making his DopeHouse debut with “Bang (Left My Home)” back in October of 2013, the Memphis native went on to release a year’s worth of quality singles – testing the waters with different sounds on tracks like “Last Night in Atlanta,” “Victoria” with Allan Kingdom, and “Home (Southside).” And when it was time to release a project, he didn’t disappoint with his Alice In Wonderland-inspired EP, Alyss.

Now, with another calendar year in the books, Jon Waltz is back with the first single off his upcoming sequel EP, Anna. Produced by Brockhampton‘s RomiL, “Anna” once again finds JW trying out a new sound – and after jamming to it for the past 24 hours, I’ve gotta say, he’s found his groove.

I think it ‘Anna’was the first time where we got that sound down to where we knew exactly what we wanted and how we were going to make it from this point on,” Waltz told HypeTrak. “I just think it’s the best song to represent what this project sounds like. It’s pop, but it’s not what people would expect from a pop song. It’s very genuine music, and it was just created by internet kids using iPhones to communicate with each other. It’s about moving back and having nothing be the same, but moving on from past relationships and accepting life.”

Vibe out to “Anna” below and be on the lookout for the EP later this year.
