Announced yesterday, Detrooklyn (Detroit x Brooklyn for the slowpokes) emcee/singer Amir Obè wastes no time delivering his latest body of work, Happening In The Grey Area.

“A lot of my music is very conversational,” Amir Obè told Billboard. “Most of my songs are just thoughts and emotions and everybody has thoughts and emotions, so they can relate no matter who they are… I think they’re gonna get a real authentic, progressive, real melodic project. I did a lot of experimenting on this project, so I just discovered new ways to approach songs. It’s still very conversational. It’s still very me as far as my personal experience but I think this is gonna be a real solid body of work.”

At 10 tracks, the EP features PARTYNEXTDOOR on a pair of previously-released songs (“The Truth,” “I’m Good“), and production from frequent collaborator NYLZ, as well as WondaGurl, the MeKanics (Bryson Tiller’s “Exchange“), Eli Sostre, Daniel Worthy, OZ, and Brian Dekker.
