Back at the beginning of January, Jack Garratt made his DopeHouse debut with a cover/mashup of Justin Timberlake’s “Señorita” and Craig David‘s “7 Days.” It seems the latter singer caught ahold of the cover and decided to return the favor. Today, David unleashed a cover of fellow Brit Garratt’s “Breathe Life,” which landed on his debut LP Phase released on Friday.
After praising Garratt’s singing and songwriting ability to pair with his “futuristic” sound in an interview with Zane Lowe, David delivered his own flavor to the electronic and melodic single. Using a faster tempo, and acoustic guitar and simple drums to add to the energy, David offers a pretty soothing and original take on one of my favorite Jack Garratt songs.
