Kehlani – “24/7”

Approximately a year ago, Bay Area songstress Kehlani dropped her album You Should Be Here. The project would be followed by the announcement that she had been signed to Atlantic Records, and it was eventually received a Best Urban Contemporary Album nomination at the 2016 GRAMMYs. However, her 2016 thus far has been rough to say the least, as she has dealt with various cheating rumors and an apparent attempted suicide.

She has now returned with her first musical offering of the year, the DZL-produced “24/7.” A quasi-reference to the turmoil she may (or may not) have gone through, Kehlani bares her soul on a song about how the weight of the world is too much to bear sometimes: “It’s okay to not be okay.” While she will undoubtedly bounce back from her ordeals (she already has a variety of shows and festivals lined up throughout the year), “24/7” is the first sign of that recovery.
