In just under a month, legendary rap group A Tribe Called Quest will celebrate 18 years since the release of their fifth and final recorded album together — The Love Movement.

The LP, produced entirely by The Ummah (J Dilla, Q-Tip and Ali Shaheed Muhammad) was backed by singles including “Find A Way,” “Start It Up,” “Busta’s Lament” and “Like It like That” and also ended a nearly decade long streak of the quartet releasing classic back-to-back albums — with Q-Tip breaking off onto a solo… tip.

Recently, Epic Records CEO L.A. Reid announced that the group will be releasing a brand new album, and their first in nearly 20 years, revealing that the new project will also include material recorded by Phife Dawg before his untimely death earlier this year.

“You know what I’m excited about, though? Tribe Called Quest. We have a Tribe Called Quest album coming. I’m really excited about that, ” Reid enthusiastically explained during Rap Radar’s podcast, continuing “It’s a brand new album that they recorded. Before Phife passed away.”
