Earlier in the summer Common, who was a guest on Sway’s Shade 45 morning radio show, live-debuted a song tentatively slated for the follow-up to his tenth album Nobody’s Smiling (the project is scheduled to arrive before the end of 2016), “Black America Again.”

The Chicago legend has now revealed the official version of the song via video, which is produced by Karriem Riggins and Robert Glasper, and with contributions from Esperanza Spalding, Chuck D and MC Lyte. Beginning with the infamous footage of Alton Sterling’s murder by the police, the video is a blend of footage of Black men and women from the past with the men and women of today who could very well be suffering from racism-based PTSD.
