Mass Appeal, the magazine-turned-media and content company just landed a couple million more reasons to keep going.

Initially launched as a magazine dedicated to graffiti culture in 1996, Mass Appeal has since grown into a production and development company (recently producing the documentary De La Soul Is Not Dead), eponymous record label (with acts such as Dave East, Bishop Nehru and Boldy James signed to the label), and more. Now, alongside Nas — who invested in them back in 2013 — Mass Appeal has received an additional six million dollar invvestment from Usher, Steve Stoute, Evolution Media, and even the Universal Music Group (UMG) among others.

Michele Anthony, Executive Vice President of UMG, will also join Mass Appeal’s board of directors. “At Universal Music Group, we are creating new opportunities for our artists and labels to forge deeper relationships with fans around the world through music, film, television, video, social media and brand sponsorships,” Anthony said via press release. “Working with Mass Appeal, we will be able to accelerate that strategy. I’m honored to join Mass Appeal’s board and I’m looking forward to working closely together on many future projects.”

With VICE making the transition from a print magazine in 1994 to having its own television channel, it appears that other media outlets hope to follow in their footsteps as well.

So… Annie, let us borrow a few dollars. We know y’all are good for it now!
