Milo – “Sorcerer”

blame it on Patrick Glynn July 28, 2017

In a year of solid rap releases, there aren’t many I’m more excited to listen to the rest of the year than Milo‘s upcoming who told you to think??!!?!?!?!

Following the release of his Over The Carnage Rose A Prophetic Voice project under the Scallops Hotel moniker, the Milwaukee rapper shared his next album’s first single, “Magician,” featuring a gusty verse committed to keeping his eyes wide open while roaming the world. “Met an Aristotelian and got to press him ’bout his awkward views/Why you so quick to divide/So hasty, devise and cut in two/Knowing it’s impolite to tarry, I went about my way.” He’s a poet, who seamlessly puts his writings into song.

The latest single from who told you to think??!!?!?!?! — “Sorcerer” — is sonically more tame than the first (it’s also produced by Kenny Segal), but it’s still committed to discovery, openness and evolving. Calmly, he raps: “You should’ve been a stock broker, fuck that/Rappers look at rock smokers, fuck that/At the bottom of a well and I’m screaming, ‘There’s still more,'” before repeating “I flourish in the lag time” as the song comes to a close.

The song was presented in a video, where Milo roams a local tennis court with a sword. Because he flourishes when (and where) you least expect him to.
