Justin Timberlake Drops “Say Something” with Chris Stapleton

Throughout the past few weeks Justin Timberlake has hit the promotional circuit for his upcoming fourth album Man Of The Woods, releasing album details, a tour and behind-the-scenes looks of the making of the album. But when it comes to the singles, the reception has been mixed.

Reuniting with Timbaland, the first single “Filthy” came with a provocative video that essentially imagined Justin as a Tim Cook-esque creator that turned Sophie The Robot into a dancing sex doll. Meanwhile, the video for his Pharrell-produced “Supplies” received backlash for his saccharine interpretation of the #MeToo, #BlackLivesMatter and Trump protests.

Not to mention, Timberlake’s own description of the album — “combining the sounds of traditional American rock with the modern influences” — stoked thoughts that he would try his hand at blending his trademark pop sensibilities with a country music sound. Which brings things to the third single off Man Of The Woods, “Say Something” with country superstar Chris Stapleton. Produced by Danja and Timbaland, the song dropped in conjunction with a video, and it indeed is a blending of both sounds.

Once again, this writer will save judgement for the album when it formally and finally arrives on February 2nd. Watch it below.
