FKA twigs – “Figure 8”

FKA twigs is an eclectically interesting musician. For myself, personally, it’s hard to engage in her eccentric stylings, however I can take one look at her and see why her fans – and, in particular, Robert Pattinson – are so enthralled with her. She speaks to the artistically inclined, the left-brainers of the world, in a synesthete-esque manner than only they can understand. And in that manner, I fully support her and her flair.

Fresh from her headlining performance at Chicago’s Lollapalooza, she sat down with Beats1 Radio personality Zane Lowe to premiere a new single, “Figure 8” (which she actually performed for the first time during her Lolla set). Inspired by the time she spent in New York taking vogue dance lessons, the single is twigs at her traditionally untraditional: a myriad of hand-claps, a stutter-step bassline, and her haunting vocals punctuate the single’s flair. Listen to the single, as well as a brief interview between Zane and twigs, below.
