DaM-Funk – “Glyde 2Nyte”

blame it on Patrick Glynn August 18, 2015

It seems like ages since Cali funkmaster DaM-Funk unveiled Invite the Light‘s lead single, “We Continue,” and now we’re just a little over two weeks from the album’s release. Today, thanks to NPR, we get the second sound from the album set to release September 4 with “Glyde 2nyte” featuring Leon Sylvers IV.

One of DaM’s mentors in the funk world is Leon Sylvers III, a former producer for S.O.L.A.R. Records, according to NPR, so it’s nice that his son was able to hop on the mic with him and pay tribute to the sound the two artists first connected with. The slow, funky jam features a soothing synthesizer lying behind DaM’s groovy bassline and keytar as the two promise a “fly rollercoaster” if you spend a night with them. You’ll ride it over and over.

Listen to “Glyde 2Nyte” below, and pre-order Invite the Light on iTunes.

UPDATE: DaM also released two non-album track as a bonus for the fans. Thanks Funk gawd!
