Here’s two things aI enjoy about this single from the reclusive Mr. MFN eXquire. The title is called “Sweet Chick,” an obvious nod to one of the better chicken and waffles restaurants in New York City, and as a proponent of actual fried poultry (not the Shake & Bake kind) I stand by that statement. Second, the track is produced by Alchemist, who has always been one of my favorite producers.
The trademark dirty grime Al has been known for is there in full force, which perfectly sets up to eXquire to knock out his trademark hilariously menacing rhymes, hook-free, for nearly five minutes. Coincidentally, this track was slated to serve as the first offering from his surprise (there’s that word again!) project LiveForever which was originally slated to release today (September 17th), but eX has pushed the project to release on another, unconfirmed date. Either way, if the EP has more songs like this, I’ll be here for all of it.
