One of the six members of the former Three 6 Mafia, Koopsta Knicca, has passed away after suffering a massive stroke. He was 40.
Born Robert Phillips, he was one of the founding members of the influential group from Memphis. Three 6 Mafia had recently gotten back together sans-Juicy J under the name Da Mafia 6. In December 2013, another one of the group’s members, Lord Infamous, passed away as well.
In a statement to Commercial Appeal, a blog run out of Memphis, DJ Paul of Three 6 Mafia said Koopsta “went in peace…Everyone who knew Koop knew he was very funny and the coolest guy ever. He will be missed. We made classics together that’ll live on.”
