I was just talking to a friend the other day about how long Aloe Blacc has been in rotation. Dating back to his Emanon days with Exile and his Good Things LP, which came out almost SIX years ago, the Cali singer has been grinding for the better half of a decade. Although, since blowing up to the masses with Avicii’s “Wake Me Up,” Blacc hasn’t surfaced much in the blog-o-sphere. Toward the end of 2015, he snuck in a tender holiday song, “Merry Christmas Mr. Brown,” dedicated to those who’ve fell at the hands of police brutality, and he returns once again with “Let The Games Begin,” a song from the soundtrack to the movie Race.

The film follows the life of Olympic track star Jesse Owens, who became one of the first African Americans to win a gold medal at the Olympics, and Blacc’s tune follows the cliche game-opening statement, “Let the games begin!” Not many people do feel-good, triumphant music as well as Blacc does, and his new tune follows suit.

Race is set to drop in theater February 19. Listen to the first sample from the soundtrack below.
