Mike Two – Thoughts Of A Beautiful Dream (Album)

blame it on JES7 February 2, 2016

Before we get deep into this post, I’d like to retract a quick statement I made in this Lou the Human post. In it, I made the premature assumption that “no one is really making waves out of the notorious New York borough of Staten Island” aside from Lou and the Wu.

Well, it looks like we can add another name to that slim list. Enter Mike Two. After appearing in Mean Joe Scheme‘s “51020” video and on J57’s “Dreamers” single – the producer/emcee is next up to bat.

Thoughts Of A Beautiful Dream is the third album to be released on J57’s FiveSeven Music imprint, following Mean Joe Scheme’s You Gotta Watch and J’s I’m the 57.

The project is an exceptional amalgamation of boom-bap raps (“The Louvre”), double-time flows a la A$AP Rocky (“Come Over”) and utopian R&B (“Lit” featuring Koncept). The majority of the production on the LP is shared between J57 and Optiks, with contributions from Mike Swoop and Sauce. Give it a spin below – and if you dig the sounds, you can download each track for free.

Look out for Katiah‘s LP on FiveSeven Music next (Feb. 29th).
