I’m more disappointed in myself than shocked I haven’t listened to more Zeds Dead. If something in the music world brings in a reference to Pulp Fiction, than it should always get a look/the world’s respect, no?
Anyway, the electronic producer released a new song Tuesday called “Back Home,” and it features the most consistent artist in hip-hop music, Gary, Indiana’s own Freddie Gibbs. I don’t think there’s anyone who could make sounding going to war and spraying people with bullets over the drug game as hopeful and inspiring of an opportunity as Gibbs does. While I’m not a massive fan of the song overall, there’s no doubt I considered lining up in the trenches with Freddie Gibbs before I realized he’d never, ever, ever recruit me for a such a thing. I’d be close to useless.
Stream “Back Home,” which will land on a forthcoming album from Zeds Dead, below.
