Unfortunately, Stefan Ponce‘s wonderful and soulful “I Love Kanye” remix got taken down shortly after posting it a couple weeks ago. Today, though, the Chicago producer is back with a new single, the first off an upcoming album.
“Drive In (Don’t Pass Me Up)” features fellow citymate theMIND and Maryland’s Julian Bell and is an absolute banger of a dance tune. Led by uptempo drums, bright keys and horn sections, theMIND and Bell trade verses full of lovelorn lyrics that help lift the song’s already-funky mood.
Ponce spoke to The FADER, who premiered the single, about the song:
“‘Drive In’ was one of the first songs we made for the album. A lot of these songs I made in a dark place, which sometimes makes them hard to listen to, but I’m fortunate to be able to channel what goes on in my life negativity to something that makes people dance an happy.”
