Kendrick Lamar. Q-Tip. Common. Busta Rhymes. Jay Electronica. De La Soul. These are some of the artists who have performed at the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival throughout its 11 years in existence. As the Brooklyn Bodega-reared showcase heads into its 12th year, they head to a different borough to source its headliner: Nas.
Mr. Jones will front the festival’s Finale Concert, which takes place July 16th at the Brooklyn Bridge Park in DUMBO. While — as expected — Nas may bring out some guests of his own, but joining him on the bill will also be Fabolous, Talib Kweli, and Rapsody. More performers will be announced over the next few months. Torae and Uncle Ralph McDaniels will returns as hosts, while turntable maestro Rob Swift will be the house DJ.
