On Wednesday, The FADER announced Erykah Badu as the cover of its next magazine. Along with the story/interview, it turns out, she delivered a new song, “I Been Going Thru It All.” In similar fashion to many of the songs on her But U Caint Use My Phone mixtape released last year, the song is a remix (Wintertime’s “Thru It All”) with a slightly adjusted name and flavor.
The songstress uses the minimalistic, drooping production to get some honesty out in the open, much like she did in the interview. “All I got is my fam. If you don’t give a f*ck, then I don’t really give a damn,” she spits in a repetitive flow letting the world know that, despite whatever perception you have of her based on recent social media shake ups or whatnot, Ms. Badu’s still the top dog.
