Jarren Benton – “Scared” f. OnCue & Big Rube (Video)

As shocking as the Funk Volume implosion was earlier this year, the more I think about it, the more it made sense — especially for Jarren Benton and Dizzy Wright. I don’t know if I’m in the minority here, but I fully believe the split was the best thing that could’ve happened to them. No longer blanketed by the success of the label, both Jarren and Dizzy have enough footing in the game to keep their name ringing and fanbase growing on their own.

Dizzy just proved that with the successful release of The 702 EP. And on July 22nd, Benton will be doing the same with Slow Motion 2.

After causing “Anarchy” with his EarthGang-assisted banger at the top of the year, the ATLien went outta his brain and brought a “Tec In The Church” with Locksmith and Joyner Lucas. He’s been on a rampage for months, but now it’s time to get serious.

With our homie OnCue providing the hook and a rare but extremely welcomed contribution from the legendary Big Rube, Jarren Benton keeps it brutally honest as he bares his soul on on the deeply personal “Scared.”

There’s ten days left before Slow Motion 2 arrives, and after hearing this, the anticipation just went to another level.

UPDATE (8/29): Six weeks later, with Slow Motion 2 making its rounds, Jarren Benton releases the accompanying visual.
