Since dropping from Drake’s October’s Very Own label sometime at the beginning of the year, iLoveMakonnen hasn’t really had much aim in the group of loosies — or his Drink More Water 6 mixtape — he’s shared over the last nine months.
But he’s dubbed his new song — “Call Me Badly” — a return to “old Makonnen,” and it’s produced by someone he’s found a lot of success (at least in my eyes, if it hasn’t paid off in the mainstream) working with: Danny Wolf.
Makonnen drops any vocal effects for the trap/R ‘n’ B-style tune as he croons about missing someone who he did wrong in a relationship. The Atlanta native has had a couple ups and downs in his short career thus far, but you’ll never be able to fault the man for not having a decent, real singing voice.
