Kehlani revealed the artwork for her debut album, SWEETSEXYSAVAGE, which is set for a January 27 release, yesterday. She follows that with dropping “Advice” in addition to talking about the album on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show.
“Advice” is less so advice she’s gotten or given but rather wise words to herself. She told Lowe she made the song after a breakup where the person she thought she’d be with forever hurt her again and again, and the song is a reminder to take the advice she gives to people in other songs.
“I’m gonna accept every part about myself,” she told Lowe about the influence behind the song and album. “All of it makes me who I am, and hopefully people don’t beat themselves up for decisions they’ve made.”
