Suffice to say, producer Menace was virtually everywhere in 2016.

In 2015 the Manchester, England-reared producer sold a seemingly innocuous beat to Brooklyn-born Sidney Royel Selby III. Sidney, who goes by the rap name Desiigner, would turn that beat into one of the biggest rap songs of the year, “Panda,” going quadruple-platinum and earning a GRAMMY nomination in the process.

Menace has released the appropriately-titled The Beat Tape Vol. 1, a five-track collection of instrumentals tailored to showcase his talents. “Most people only know me as the ‘the dude who produced “Panda,”‘ so [I want] to show people the other side of me and what I’m capable of,” Menace says.

Taking cues from the sounds of the West, the South and even the old Kanye, his instrumental tape can be heard below.
