For the first time in three years, Shabazz Palaces will release a new album.

Nearly three years to the day after their 2014 album Lese Majesty was released to the world, Ishamael and Tendai will return with Quazarz: Born on a Gangster Star.

Along with announcing a new album, they also dropped the first single, the blissful and “Shine A Light” featuring Thaddillac. The upcoming concept album was detailed in a press email:

“Herein the Palaceer continues the tale of Quazars, a sentient being from somewhere else, an observer sent here to Amurderca to chronicle and explore as a musical emissary. What he finds in our world is a cutthroat place, a landscape where someone like him could never quite feel comfortable amidst all the brutality and alternative facts and death masquerading as connectivity.”

Shabazz Palaces also dropped the tracklist to the project.

  1. “Since C.A.Y.A.”
  2. “When Cats Claw”
  3. “Shine A Light” (Feat. Thaddillac)
  4. “Play”
  5. “Dèesse Du Sang”
  6. “Eel Dreams” (Feat. Loud Eyes Lou)
  7. “Parallax” (Feat. The Palaceer Lazaro)
  8. “Fine Ass Hairdresser”
  9. “The Neurochem Mixalogue”
  10. “That’s How City Life Goes”
  11. Moon Whip Quäz” (Feat. Darrius)
