Brady Watt – “Youth In Revolt” f. Michael Christmas

The last time we checked in with Brady Watt, the Harlem native appeared to be living life up in Malibu, California.

That was in 2015. And although his name seems to have disappeared from the Dopehouse over the last two years, rest assured, Brady has been putting in work. The accomplished multi-instrumentalist/producer recently picked up producer credits on Styles P and Talib Kweli‘s The Seven album, provided his bass playing skills on Joey Bada$$‘s B4.DA.$$ and recently has taken up residence as bass player for DJ Premier‘s live band The Badder Band.

Recently, Brady revealed plans to release a new album titled To Get Back Home, due out on DJ Premier’s TTT (To The Top) imprint — for which Brady also signed a deal as the label’s first producer.

Today, Brady drops by with the project’s first single, “Youth In Revolt” which features Michael Christmas.

Recorded during his stay in Malibu, Brady recalls the process behind creating the song. “That whole Malibu trip was insane,” he shared with XXL. “I was there for two and a half months, living in a mansion (essentially in paradise) rent free. Someone conned the people renting the house out of a bunch of money and about a week after I moved out they were forced to flop on the rent. Everyone then had to bounce and the whole situation evaporated into thin air; almost like it never existed. Luckily, I was making music every day up there so I feel like I have record of it. You can hear that on ‘Youth In Revolt'”.
