Fresh off celebrating his first pro-wrestling victory (with help from Mick Foley), Open Mike Eagle is back on the music tip with What Happens When I Try to Relax.
With Brick Body Kids Still Daydream still in rotation from last year, the polymath creative follows up with a new EP that finds a balance between insightful and comedic.
Weighing his recent successes against the many sociopolitical failures of the present, Mike told told Pitchfork it’s “about expectations of form, anxiety, middle age and middle class.”
Locked in at six tracks (that Mike would “put up against any 6 rap songs that came out this year”), What Happens When I Try to Relax can be heard below. Press play and add it on your choice streaming service.
Where Mike Eagle truly shines is in his live show. I’ve caught him a few times and each show was memorable in their own ways. He’s a true performer. Do yourself a favor and catch him on the road. Dates below.
