Chris Rivers Drops ‘G.I.T.U.’ Album

blame it on Shake August 16, 2019

Since he first entered the rap game, every mention of Chris Rivers inevitably acknowledges the influence of his father, Big Pun. It’s a gift that offered the Bronx emcee the opportunity to be heard, but simultaneously a curse that elicits unfair comparisons–we’re talking about an all time great.

With his Mello Music debut, G.I.T.U. (Greatest In The Universe), Rivers looks to achieve what would’ve been impossible for a lesser talent: stakes his claim as a singular artist, one speaking for his generation, his culture, his familial heritage, and most crucially, himself.

“G.I.T.U. is a title that fully encompasses the feel of this body of work, because it traverses my mental state, loves had and lost, stories of overcoming obstacles; both internal and external while learning to love myself and becoming the best version of who I could be,” Chris said. “Both as a person and an artist, this record breaks through the boundaries of my personal limitations. Everyone’s world is their own, everyone has their own universe that they are in control of. And in mine—I’m undoubtedly the Greatest in The Universe.”

Locked in at 16 tracks, including “Sincerely Me” and “In the Morning,” the album includes a few features from Oswin Benjamin, and more. Press play and be sure to add G.I.T.U. on your preferred streaming platform.
