This is absolutely heartbreaking to read.

Reports have come in that Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant died in a tragic helicopter crash early Sunday morning (Jan. 26).

He was 41 years old.

TMZ (and the LA Times) first reported that the copter went down in the hills above Calabasas shortly before 10am. ESPN, ABC and Variety have all confirmed that Bryant was on the helicopter among the victims.

Bryant was an 18–time All-Star, 11-time All-NBA First Team five-time NBA champion, spending his entire career with the Lakers. He scored 33,643 points in his 20-year NBA career, placing him at fourth on the all-time scorers list (he was just passed by current Laker Lebron James Saturday night). He retired from the Lakers after the 2015-16 season, but not after setting the record for scoring the most points in a player’s final game where he hung 60 on the Utah Jazz in a win. Prior to that, he famously scored 81 points against the Toronto Raptors on January 22, 2006.
