This week has been great for nostalgia.

Earlier, Pac Div reminded us of how great their music is when their magnum opus Church League Champions was finally released to the streaming platforms. Now, Jhené Aiko has followed suit, releasing her debut mixtape sailing soul(s) — marking its tenth anniversary — to the DSPs.

sailing soul(s) was an independent project and the beginning of me writing every lyric to every song I sing,” Aiko said in a statement. “I wanted the cover to express me breaking free from that narrative of having to ‘sell’ myself. I wanted the broken chains to symbolize that freedom of feeling unanchored… free to be me, going with the flow… going with the wind like a sail boat… freeing my soul…’sailing’ my soul instead of ‘selling’ my soul.”

As well as the original songs from the project (the album’s third track, “Hoe,” was the original version of her CHILOMBO track of the same name, Aiko has also included four bonus tracks in the mix as well.
